Rutabaga and Chicken Stew

1 small rutabaga, peeled & diced in 1/2-inch pieces
2 medium parsnips, peeled & diced in 1/2-inch pieces
1 medium carrot, peeled & diced in 1/2-inch pieces
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-size pieces
1/3 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 large leek, chopped
2 cups chicken broth
